What is HostFamily Program?
HostFamily Program is Universitas Airlangga's way to give Indonesian families enrich international students' life during their stay in Indonesia. The program also gives Indonesian family to learn Real-life diversity and multiculturalism. The voluntary program aims to help Universitas Airlangga’s international students to have a precious moments during their stay in Indonesia.
The program is also an opportunity for your family to be one of the agents of the society to introduce Indonesia and its culture to the world.
What are the requirements that our family should fulfil for this program?
You are required to have a sufficient english proficiency for this program because english will be used to communicate with international students. (and we assure you this is one of the best ways to practice and enrich your english!). Having an impressive knowledge of cross-cultural understanding is also important in this program because of the cultural difference you might encounter during the program.
Your willingness to have additional family member from different culture and accept them as they are is one of the most important requirement for this program. This program also requires you to provide a comfort room and lavatory, an appropiarte place to study, located in a clean and safe neighborhood, and it is preferable that the house is located around Universitas Airlangga campus (15-20 minutes from campus). It is optional for your family to provide meals or snack for international student you are hosting.
However, for those who are residing not close from Universitas Airlangga, you are still welcome to apply as long as it is still in Surabaya and have a good access to UA (or it would be better if you are willing to provide transport for the international student to UA).
