Asia - Pacific Model United Nations Conference (AMUNC) 2019

The Asia - Pacific Model United Nations Conference (AMUNC), with the support of the Political Science Society of the National University of Singapore, is proud to announce the 25th Edition of the Asia - Pacific Model United Nations Conference (AMUNC 2019). Going into its 25th iteration in July 2019, AMUNC has a rich pedigree and history as a conference originating from Sydney, Australia in 1995. As an annual travelling conference, AMUNC plays an important role in the MUN calendar of many students from Oceania as well as Asia. It prides itself in the diverse pool of delegates, each bringing their history, knowledge and culture with them, alongside the changing country landscape that hosts such a group.

AMUNC has continued to uphold its reputation for its academic rigour and organisational excellence. Till date, AMUNC is widely considered to be the largest and most prestigious MUN Conference in the Asia-Pacific Region. This excellence and drive was not born out of thin air - AMUNC’s long-standing prestige has been due to the efforts of its dedicated student-run Secretariat, as well as the tireless support of our sponsors and partners. Without those who have supported us and guided us along this journey, AMUNC would not have been able to reach the heights it has reached today.

Beyond the General Assemblies and Regional Bodies that cater to beginner and intermediate level delegates; AMUNC 2019 is proud to offer Specialized Agencies that guarantee an invigorating and exciting new experience involving unique committee topics and council procedure. We are also excited to present two new Crisis Committees on the Mekong River Commission and the Somalia Piracy Crisis. Exciting social events, a world-class venue and of course, rigorous academic and debate quality - these are but some of the features which you can expect at the 25th Edition of AMUNC.

Social Events

  • Global Village

A staple of Model United Nations conferences internationally, the Global Village is traditionally the first social event of every conference. It provides a setting for delegates to get to know each other before formal committee sessions begin. Beyond handshakes and introductions, the Global Village is an excellent opportunity for cross-cultural exchange, especially to introduce our newfound foreign friends to Singapore through the lens of our Singaporean participants. The Global Village also serves to kickstart committee debate in an informal environment, setting the tone for the next 5 days of debate.

  • Social Night: ZOUK

Delegates can anticipate an evening of fun and excitement as they take off their blazers for a night on the town! Day 4’s social event is a platform for delegates to mingle in an informal setting and party away the mid-week blues. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase Singapore’s vibrant nightlife and give our participants a chance to rest, relax and get to know each other better. We are proud to project a night out at Zouk for AMUNC 2019, which was ranked 3rd globally by DJ Mag (UK) this year.

Zouk is an excellent representative of Singapore’s nightlife scene as it strives to be the pacesetter in propelling Asia’s dance music scene forward. It continuously pushes boundaries by leading Singapore to the forefront of global clubbing culture. Since it opened its doors, Zouk has delivered an innovative and progressive clubbing environment, introducing Singapore to the world's freshest dance music. As the pioneer clubbing institution in Singapore, Zouk was the first club to introduce House music, bravely steering away from the popular trend of Top 40s and retro playlists, establishing itself as a trailblazer in the industry. Since then, Zouk has played host to hundreds of top DJs and artists like Carl Cox, Avicii, Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold and Danny Tenaglia.

Closing Ceremony & Gala Dinner
As the conference draws to an end on Day 7, it is a time for celebration as we reward our delegates for the hard work put into debate over the last 5 days. We are in talks and close to confirming that the Closing Ceremony cum Gala Dinner will feature a prominent Guest-of-Honour to guide the closing of AMUNC 2019, whilst delegates enjoy a four-course Western dinner in the Resorts World Sentosa Grand Ballroom. Beyond that, our participants will likely anticipate the awards presentation ceremony where the best delegates from each committee will be recognized; following which, a grand night of celebration featuring the best hospitality Singapore has to offer. The Gala Dinner will also be an exuberant send-off for all our international friends who have travelled all the way to Singapore for AMUNC 2019.

It is thus our great honour to invite your institution to the conference taking place at Resorts World Sentosa, Singaporefrom 7 - 13 July 2019. We are delighted to announce that Early Bird registration is officially open for AMUNC 2019! Early Bird registration fees are priced at SGD $300 per pax, with increments for normal and late registration. This round of registration will close on 28 February 2019, 2359 (GMT +8).
