Japanese Language and Culture Program for Fall 2019 at Nagasaki University

Japanese Language and Culture Program for Fall 2019 provides an opportunity to learn Japanese language and culture at the Center for Japanese Language and Student Exchange, Nagasaki University. The objectives of this program are to improve participants’ Japanese language skills and enrich their knowledge of Japanese culture, and also to deepen mutual understanding between international students and Japanese students.

  • Applicants’ major or minor field of study must be Japanese language and culture at Unair. If not, their main purpose of the study abroad must be learning Japanese language and Japanese culture.
  • Applicants must be recommended by Unair.
  • Applicants must have passed N3 or higher level of Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), or equivalent test score to JLPT N3 level.
  • Applicants must have achieved academic excellence in their home university.
  • As a general rule, applicants must have non-Japanese nationality.

Required Documents

  • Digital Color Photo Data 4cm×3cm (1.5”x1.2”), Upper half of body with bare  head,  plain  background,  Taken  within  3 months,  Different  one  from  the  one  on  the passport
  • Recommendation Letter (Written by a teacher or the applicant’s supervisor at applicant’s home university who knows the applicant’s Japanese language ability well).
  • Certificate of Enrollment (Issued by Faculty)
  • Academic Transcript (Stamped and signed by Faculty)
  • Essay (See attachment)
  • Copy of Passport
  • Certificate of Health (See attachment)
  • Copy  of  Proof  of  Japanese Language Proficiency

Tuition Fee for “Fee-Paying Course” Students
Fee-Paying Course students from partner universities of Nagasaki University are required to pay 14,800 yen per credit. Please note that there is a possibility of change in tuition fee.

Nagasaki University will apply to JASSO (the Japan Student Services Organization) Student Exchange Support Program for JLCP. Only when it is selected by JASSO, the scholarships will be provided to the selected JLCP participants*. The potential scholarship recipients will be selected based on their academic records at their home university and other conditions, and will be nominated to JASSO.

Application Procedure

  1. Students must fill in the online application form and upload documents before 15 March 2019.
  2. AGE UNAIR will review all applications after the mentioned deadline. Please be aware that incomplete application will not be considered
  3. AGE will contact shortlisted candidates for further application process.
