International Community Outreach Program (On Becoming Global Citizens: Youth Reproduction Health)

The International Community Outreach Program is a one-week program which is designed to offer students a once-in-a-lifetime experience that allows them to explore and respond to the actual social life & help the community development problems.

Through this program, students will be able to experience educating high school students with the aim of creating awareness and advocacy for this particular issue. Adapted from the third Sustainable Development Goals, this year’s COP will tackle the issue of youth reproduction health. Topics discussed in classes of the program concern how to talk about sex with your parents and peers, finding the right source, identity and gender, sex and youth culture in Surabaya, cyber culture, how to do peer counseling, healthy intimate relationship, and social values on youth sexuality (religious and community norms). As a result, students are expected to be able to educate the members of their community on sex education.

Students from Indonesia and all over the world will also work hand-in-hand with academic faculty to produce a life-changing project that can be implemented in future volunteer opportunities.
