Universitas Airlangga Goes to EURIE 2020

Day 1 - EURIE 2020
Universitas Airlangga is participating in Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE) 2020 which organized in Istanbul, Tukey, on 19-21 February 2020.
On the first day of the event, UNAIR met several Higher Education Institutions from Turkey (Middle East Technical Univ, Karabuk Univ, Istanbul Aydin Univ, Saglik Bilimeri Universitesi), Malaysia (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, UiTM, UPM, USM), Bangladesh (Daffodil International University), Morocco (University of Muhammad Premieri), and more. During this meeting UNAIR promoted  lecturers and students program through University and Erasmus funding program. Some universities also proposed some ideas to have internship exchange which will be useful for the students, English bridging program, and online lecture for the students at UNAIR.

IELTS Simulation by IDP Education Surabaya

On Thursday, 20 February 2020, an IELTS Simulation has been held at R. Pelatihan PIPS UNAIR by IDP Education. It was attended by 50 participants. The participants were students of UNAIR as well as the lecturers. This simulation was expected to test the participants' ability to do IELTS.

Strategic Meeting with Eastern Asia University and Attarkiah Islamic Institute

Surabaya, East Java --- On Thursday (20/02), two institutions from Thailand, namely Eastern Asia University and Attarkiah Islamiah Institute, visited Universitas Airlangga for a strategic meeting. The visit was attended by Vice Rector for Research, Publications and Community Services, Head of Airlangga Global Engagement, as well as representatives from Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Public Health and Faculty of Pharmacy who warmly welcomed Prof. Dr. Chotiras Chavanich, (President of Eastern Asia University), Major General Orranun Harnyoot, Ms. Areeya Sriprasert,, Ms. Kulchalee Thupatemee, Mrs. Yaowapa Pathomsirikul, (Lecturers of Eastern Asia University) and the representative from Attarkiah Islamiah Institute, Mr. Phaisan Toryib, (Manager), Mr. Adul Meatam, (Staff of Information, Social and Culture Attarkiah Islamiah Institute), Mr. Krisada Useng, Mrs. Srinda Salaeh, and Mrs. Salma Maetam (Staff of Attarkiah Islamiah Institute).

The meeting was held in LPI (Lembaga Penelitian dan Inovasi) meeting room and commenced with an opening remark delivered by the Head of Airlangga Global Engagement, Dian Ekowati, Ph.D. The first speech was delivered by Prof. Ir. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Vice Rector III and followed by another speech from Prof. Dr. Chotiras Chavanich, as the President of Eastern Asia University, and Mr. Phaisan Toryib from Attarkiah Islamiah Institute. The meeting mainly discussed about the collaboration of Eastern Asia University, Attarkiah Islamiah Institute and Universitas Airlangga in terms of exchange students and staff, as well as research collaboration. The purpose of the meeting itself is to maintain collaboration between these universities and to reach specific goals that the universities had agreed on.





Lecture by H.E Mr. Gary Quinlan, Australian Ambassador to Indonesia


Surabaya, East Java --- On Thursday (20/02), His Excellency Mr. Gary Quinlan, Australian Ambassador to Indonesia visited Universitas Airlangga.  Welcomed by Vice Rector for Academic, Student and International Affairs of Universitas Airlangga, His Excellency Mr. Quinlan was given a brief tour around Aussie Banget Corner. The corner itself was located in Universitas Airlangga Library and specifically designated as a representation of partnership between Universitas Airlangga and Embassy of Australia. During the tour, several students of Universitas Airlangga who volunteered in Aussie Banget Corner had an opportunity to be greeted directly by His Excellency Mr. Quinlan.

Apart from the tour, His Excellency's visit also included a public lecture attended by students and lecturers from Universitas Airlangga. Most of the lecturers invited were alumni of universities in Australia. The public lecture, which lasted for about an hour, mainly talked about Australia's relationship with Indonesia. The topic itself was ranging from the history of friendship between the two countries, as well as the ongoing partnership between Australia and Indonesia, especially on educational and economical aspects. The discussion regarding educational aspects in particular, had taken the interest of students to find out more about scholarship opportunity in Australia. Such interests were also found amongst lecturers from Universitas Airlangga, who were more than eager to have research collaboration with other scholars. The event yesterday was ended with an exchange of token of appreciation between His Excellency Mr. Gary Quinlan and Vice Rector for Academic, Student and International Affairs of Universitas Airlangga, as well as a final photo session of all the participants, volunteers, and staffs from both Universitas Airlangga and Australian Consulate General with His Excellency Mr. Gary Quinlan.

Visitation to UNAIR and Info Session by Campus France




On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, Universitas Airlangga warmly welcomed Mr. Jean-Francois DUTREY (Development Manager of Campus France Agency)and Ms Indri Novita Sari (Officer of Campus France Surabaya). Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, Dra., MSi as Vice Rectorfor Academic, Student, and International Affairs of Airlangga University opened the meeting by giving welcome speech and introduced the representatives from Universitas Airlangga who attended to the meetingsuch asProf. Dr. Ni Made Mertaniasih, Dr., MS., Sp.MK (Vice dean III of Medicine Faculty), Dian Ekowati, Ph.D (Head of Airlangga Global Engagement),Dina Septiani, Ph.D (Head of Global Research and Initiative Division), Dr. Eko Prasetyo Kuncoro, ST., DEA (Head of Environmental Engineering Study Program),Dr. Suryani Dyah Astuti, S.Si., M.Si. (Head of Technobiomedics for Master Study Program), Dr. Khusnul Ain, ST., M.Si. (Head of Technobiomedics for Bachelor Study Program), and Sapto Andriyono S.Pi., M.T from Faculty Fisheries and Marine.

Mr. Jean-Francois DUTREY introduced the new program that has been launched by Campus France namely French + Science Program. This main purpose of the program is togive an experience for Indonesian students to learn French language and science in France. This program focusses on four topics and each program conduct in different region. Those topics are Sustainable Development at Accent Français Montpellier, Science & Technology of the Sea at Ciel Bretagne Brest, Transport & Energy at French in Normandy Esigelec, and Microtechnology & Biomedical Engineering at Université de Franche-Comté. During the meeting, the representatives from UNAIR were interested to join that program because this program could develop student’s skill and knowledge.

Universitas Airlangga hope UNAIR’s students could participate in this program. Therefore, they could experience the international ambience. The meeting was closed by exchanging token of appreciation and the visit was continued by info session in Faculty of Science and Technology.
