East Java Exploration 2019




Tuesday (25/6), WAEJUC held East Java Exploration program and visited Unair for a day. There were some representatives of universities from East Java and Western Australia that involved in this program. Their agenda was in Campus C and Campus B Universitas Airlangga.

It was started with morning class discussed about The Use of Herbs in Maintaining Indonesian Women's Health. Some traditional herbs and massage were introduced to the participants. They also tried to differentiate various gingers in Indonesia, taste Pokak as traditional herbal drink, and eat salad originally from Surabaya named Semanggi Surabaya. Some of them also got the chance to have skin treatment and massage.

The agenda continued by attending the next class. As the lecturer, Margaretha, S.Psi., P.G.Dip.Psych., M.Sc.tha, conducted this course by giving explanation about the basic definition of Mental Health and Mental illness. She also showed the actual condition related to Mental Health and Mental Illness in Indonesia.


The participants continued to explore Campus B. They were divided into 2 groups. Each group has 2 sessions which are sharing session and playing gamelan. Sharing session was held at Aussie Corner in Library campus B, while playing gamelan together with Pakarsajen community was held in Faculty of Humanities.




Strategic Meeting with BBB Korea


Universitas Airlangga, represented by Airlangga Global Engagement and Pusat Bahasa
UNAIR, hosted an initial visit from the representatives of BBB Korea in Indonesia, namely
Ms. Yoonhee Lee as the Assistant Director and Ms. Anastasia Danica Suradja as Associate,
on Wednesday (19/6/2019). BBB Korea is a non-governmental organization supported by the
Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Republic of Korea that focuses on conducting
language and culture projects as main service.

MoU Signing and Benchmarking Session Between Universitas Airlangga and Management and Science University


On Wednesday, 13 March 2019, Universitas Airlangga with it’s peers, Management and Science University undergoes a benchmarking session to evaluate and learn the best practices from both universities. The session went for 2 hours with a presentation from PPTK (Career Development and Enterpreneurship Centre) Universitas Airlangga presenting about the Creative Development for students, and the presentation further continued by Dirmawa (Directorate of Student Affair) explaining on how Universitas Airlangga takes care of it’s students through Help Centre that helps the students to vent their troubles and through UKM (Clubs) where the students could join clubs and activities, academic or non-accademic, fully supported by UNAIR. The representatives from MSU, Mohd. Adnan Rosley and Halijah binti Hassan were especially intrested with Self Centre and UKM in UNAIR and learnt a lot more through the question and answer session in the end of the presentation.

(26/4) On Friday, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) received the delegation visit from Curtin University. Curtin University brought two representatives, Prof. Sambit Datta as the Dean of International Faculty of Science and Engineering and Ms. Patricia Kelly as In-country Recruitment Executive, Curtin International. Meanwhile, UNAIR were represented by Dian Ekowati, Ph.D. as the Secretary Director of Airlangga Global Engagement, and also Dean and Faculty ambassador from some faculties.

The meeting aims to discuss the potential collaboration between Curtin University and Universitas Airlangga. There are some interesting programs from both universities, like student and staff exchange and joint research. Hopefully, as the university partner, there will be some collaboration between Curtin University and Universitas Airlangga in the future.


Global Writing Clinic 2019

On Wednesdays, 20 & 27 February 2019, Airlangga Global Engagement held the seminar titled Global Writing Clinic 2019 at Aula Kahuripan 300, Campus C, Universitas Airlangga. The aim of the seminar is to better prepare students for their journey abroad, whether it is for exchange programs or higher education. The two-series-seminar is designed to develop competencies and skills that may help students excel in winning scholarships.
