Proud moment! UNAIR Student’s Design won the ASEAN Logo Competition

On Thursday (26/7) Adi Wisnu Nugroho, a student from the Department of Accounting of the Faculty of Economy and Business Universitas Airlangga, won the ASEAN+3 University Network (AUN) logo design contest, held in Bandar Seri Bengawan, Brunei Darussalam. The design triumphed against 152 other designs by 93 students from across 9 countries.

Adi presented his design in front of 93 rectors and academicians from 43 universities in ASEAN+3. His presentation explains why he manages to won the contest from which he explains his design that have cortex shapes that visualizes the dynamic nature of AUN. He stated that “The colors and shape of my design institutionalizes the hope that AUN can maintain their cooperation through communication, education and harmonious partnership”.

Adi received a trophy and reward from AUN’s Executive Director, Choltis Dhiarthiti on the ASEAN+3 Rector’s Conference in Bandar Seri Bengawan. Adi’s logo has also been accepted as AUN’s official emblem and will be printed and uses on the flag on every AUN events.

[SURABALI2018] Get in Touch with the Nature in Site and Production Visit

The Bali Leg of SuraBali 2018 continues on with the agenda of Site and Production Visit that took time in two days, Monday (23/7) and Tuesday (24/7). After having breakfast, the committee divided the participants into two groups based on their selected company for their Business Model Canvas presentation. One group went to the Bali Tangi, and the others went to Bumi Ayu Bungalow.

After the Site and Product Visit, all the participants from two different groups went to Udayana University to attend the next an also the last activity for the day, which was learning how to make Traditional Balinese decoration, Paku Pipit. This decoration is commonly used for decorative purpose especially during wedding, and any other festivities. The decoration is made out of young coconut leaves, or in Bali is called Busung. On the next day, the group’s destinations are then switched so all participants have the opportunity to visit both companies. To end the second day, the participants then invited to a Yoga Session, held in Udayana University. The yoga session was held for approximately an hour.

Exploring Bali in SuraBali 2018

The Bali Leg for SuraBali 2018 is officially started on Sunday (22/7). Before the participant entered the room, the committee gave them Beach Sarong to wear and to take home. To start the welcoming reception, the participants are welcomed by a traditional Balinese dance, Belibis Dance. Next, was the Opening remarks from the Director of Center for Internatiional Programs Udayana University, Ni Putu Sri Harta Mimba, SE., M.Si., Ak., Ph.D., CA., CIBA., CBV., CMA and then followed by the speech presented by the Vice Rector of Udayana University Prof. Dr. Ir. I Made Sudarma, M.S.

Next on the agenda, was the general presentation by Bali Tangi, and Bumi Ayu Bungalows, the companies to visit for the Business Model Canvas and Presentation assignment, as the main task in this year’s SuraBali.   To end the day, participants are then taken for a city tour around Denpasar City to visit some of the landmarks such as Jagatnatha Temple, Perjuangan Rakyat Bali Monument, and Bali Museum. Not just sightseeing, the participants also went to souvenir shop to buy Balinese souvenirs and handicrafts.

 

Universitas Airlangga welcomes a Courtesy Visit from the University of Malaya

On Thursday (19/7) Universitas Airlangga received the honor of welcoming representatives from the University of Malaya for a courtesy visit. The delegates, who consists of Prof. Dr. Zanariah Abdullah (Dean of Faculty of Science) and Zarina Aspanut (Senior Lecturer, Low Dimensional Material Research Centre, Faculty of Science) took time to visit the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universitas Airlangga.

The representatives of the University of Malaya was welcomed by Prof Windarmanto, as the Dean Faculty of Science and Technology of Universitas Airlangga and Dr. Ninik Siti Aminah, as the Vice Dean for Research, Publication, Partnership and Community Services Faculty of Science and Technology of Universitas Airlangga.  The delegates from Malaysia was then given tour of the faculty as well as attending meetings with Universitas Airlangga.

On this meeting, numerous issues were discussed. Among them are the potential collaboration and cooperation between the Faculty of Science of the University of Malaya and the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universitas Airlangga. Both parties agreed to create joint partnership in terms of research collaboration, joint publication and two ways academic mobility program. During their visit, the representatives from the University of Malaya  met with the researchers from FST UNAIR to discuss further about the potential research collaboration. 

 

Al-Wali Foundation Visits UNAIR, Talks about Future Collaboration

On Monday (23/7) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) welcomes a visit by the Al-Wali Foundation from the Netherlands. Participants of the Al-Wali Foundation toured the Universitas Airlangga’s Dental Hospital in Campus A as well as a campus tour through the Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Medicine as part of their international community service program. The Al-Wali Foundation is a Non-governmental organization (NGO), headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands. The organization have their own pilot village near Kediri in East Java and for approximately two years, they have worked in this village for community services. The organizations send volunteers from the Netherlands and help the local communities, one of them is by building important infrastructures. Participants from UNAIR’s students as well as staff from the Center of Research and Community Services of Universitas Airlangga (LPPM UNAIR).  Both parties have acknowledge the need in helping others that are in need and have agreed for a joint event in the year to come.
