Attracting Global Talent

 

On Monday, 15 April 2019, a welcoming reception was held in the Faculty of Business for Dr. Fela Ozbey from Cukurovaa University for the Erasmus Teaching Mobility. Meanwhile, Dr Abdul Rahim and Mohammad Idham from UiTM Malaka for the Visiting Fellow program called Attracting Global Talent. The welcoming reception was attended by the Vice Dean 3 of Faculty of Economy and Business Dr. Nisful Laila, SE., M.Com, the Faculty Ambassasdor   Bayu Arie Fianto, SE., MBA., Ph.D. , and lecturers of Faculty of Economy and Business. Dr. Fela Ozbey will be in the Faculty of Economics and Business from 15-19 April 2019, while Dr. Abdul Rahim and Mohammad Idham are here from 14 - 28 April 2019. All of the fellows will have some academic activities such as guest lecture, writing clinic , research discussion, etc.


UNAIR-MSU Global Leadership Program 2019 : Day 2 Man-Groove-Ing

 

Wednesday (13/3/19), is the second day of UNAIR-MSU Global Leadership Program 2019, after having an inspirational seminar on the first day (12/3/19) from the Mayor of Surabaya, Dr. Ir. Tri Risma Wahyuningrum. M.T. On the second day, The program took part in Mangrove Forest Wonorejo, Surabaya. The activities are more concerned with the action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Cultural Trip 2019

 

On 23 February 2019, more than 50 UNAIR international students came to Situbondo to attend cultural trip organized by AGE. They visited Baluran National Park and explored the savanna and mangroveforest . At the end of the road, they enjoyed some fresh coconut by the beach. We also had some fun playing Indonesian traditional games and got distracted by way too many local monkeys which we foundthem entertaining.

Seminar “Leadership in Cross Broder and Multicultural Environment”

On Tuesday, 12th March 2019, Universitas Airlangga collaborated with Management and Science University of Malaysia to hold seminar with the Major of Surabaya as the speaker. It took place at Amerta Hall, Management Building of Campus C Universitas Airlangga.

More than 200 international students attended this seminar. They were so excited that many of them asking questions on how Ibu Risma develops the city.

It was started with the opening speech delivered by Executive Director of Airlangga Global Engagement, Prof, Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, Dra., M.Si. It was also continued by token of appreciation exchange with Dr. Ir. Tri Rismaharini, M.T as the Mayor of Surabaya, Prof. Djoko Santoso dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD.K-GH.FINASIM as the Vice Rector I, and the representative of Management and Science University of Malaysia.


Bu Risma gave the lecture about her leadership role as the Mayor of Surabaya in developing the environment and proudly getting the International achievement. She got the award as one of the best Major and Surabaya is also well-known as one of the best city in the world.

Appreciating the Mayor’s hard work in developing Surabaya, some programs and projects run in Surabaya have been introduced and presented to the audience. Those are from different aspects such as education, environment, etc.
It was closed by photo session for all the honored guests and the audience.

Indonesian Diversity at Airlangga (INDIAIR) 2019

INDIAIR 2019 was held on 14th – 26th January 2019. There were 25 participants from 4 different countries: Australia, Malaysia, China, and Libya. They learned Indonesian culture for two weeks by having tour and fieldtrips in Surabaya and Malang.

Participants visited several historical landmarks in Surabaya, namely: House of Sampoerna, Monument of Heroes, Majapahit Hotel, and Cheng-Ho Mosque. During their visit to those places, participants had the chance to experience cultural diversities by meeting people from various ethnicities, such as: Maduranese, Arabs, Chinese that has been living in harmony for generations.

In addition to learning cultural diversities in Surabaya, INDIAIR 2019 participants had the chance to learn batik. Batik is part of Indonesian heritage that has been passed down from generation to generation.

The last three days, participants went to Malang to get a deeper understanding about Indonesian diversity by visiting Jodipan village, in which it portrays various different social classes in Indonesia.  Apart from that, participants also visited Jawa Timur Park I, where they can witness many cultural diversities by exploring museums and dioramas representing each ethnicity in Indonesia.
