Students are not only given the fundamental basics of the Mandarin Language by highly qualified teachers, but also absorb the culture and lifestyle of the Chinese people through trips to some of our most famous cities.

We are pleased to inform you that the e-inbound application for Semester I, 2015/2016 Session (September 2015 intake) will be open from 1 March 2015 (after 1.00 pm) until 30 April 2015 (12.00 midnight).
Student can visit the online application link at or visit our website at for application.

1. Eligibility to Apply

  • Registered as an active student in home university;
  • Have completed at least one academic year of study in home university;
  • Nominated officially by home university (an official coordinator’s full name and email address is required);
  • Have good academic standing with CGPA not less than 3.0 or equivalent;
  • Have good command of English in speaking and writing (Note: English requirement for courses in Faculty of Business & Accountancy: IELTS (academic) Band 6, TOEFL 550).

2. Important Documents for e-inbound application

  • Recent Passport Size Photograph (unaltered by computer software)
  • Latest Academic Result/Transcript certified by home university
  • English language Examination Result certified by home university (IELTS/TOEFL/TOEIC/others)
  • Sponsor’s Offer Letter (if any)
  • Nomination through University Malaya’s member institution (AIMS, AUN, etc) 
  • Support Letter From Home University

It is the student responsibility to make sure the online form is filled up accordingly. Please note that incomplete application will not be processed and is considered unsuccessful.

3. Important Note

  • The courses listed in the e-inbound system are final at the time the e-inbound system is activated however there may be slight changes during the beginning of the semester due to undisclosed reason.
  • University of Malaya from time to time will notify home university’s coordinator for any matter related to student exchange programme.
  • Student is advised to keep a copy of the application for reference. In the event we did not receive the application, we will require the student to submit to our office a complete application form together with all the related documents via email/postal airmail/courier. Please make sure the postal and email addresses are accurate.
  • All fees charge to the student will be stated in the offer letter issued by University Malaya. University Malaya will not be responsible for any service fees charge by third party.
  • The guideline for UMSEP is provided in the e-inbound system.

4. Application for UNAIR students

  1. To be nominated for UMSEP, UNAIR students must apply through AUN-ACTS system ( ). please complete the following by April 23rd 2015 at midnight to have your application considered (all UMSEP AUN-ACTS application beyond 23rd of April will not be considered):
    1. Complete the application form
    2. Provide 'statement of interest'
    3. Upload passport-sized photo
    4. Upload scanned English proficiency certificate. (English requirement for courses in Faculty of Business & Accountancy: IELTS (academic) Band 6, TOEFL 550)
    5. Upload supporting document 1 : Official academic transcript in English (Faculty-issued and stamped) - you can obtain this from academic of your faculty
    6. Upload scanned Identification page of Passpor
  2. **** Please complete the aforementioned requirements on AUN-ACTS, IOP UNAIR will nominate the considered (complete) application on AUN-ACTS and contact you upon nomination. After confirmed, IOP UNAIR will issue official nomination letter ****

Leadership in a Complex World: The Food, Water and Energy Nexus

Program Description

The 1st Asian Undergraduate Summit (AUS) is a student-run international program organized by the National University of Singapore (NUS) University Scholars Club (USC) and five leading universities in the ASEAN region. Universitas Airlangga in Indonesia is one of the partners for this program. The Summit brings together undergraduate students of diverse disciplines and provides them with the opportunity to engage in meaningful academic, cultural, and social exchange.

The inaugural theme for AUS 2015 is "Leadership in a Complex World: The Food, Water and Energy Nexus". Using the theme as a backdrop, the participants of the Summit are expected to become more sensitive to and aware of possible linkages that may exist between previously independent issues. As future leaders of the world, the participants are also expected to appreciate the need for holistic, multidisciplinary approaches and solutions to complex problems better through this Summit.

Application and Program Timeline


  • Universitas Airlangga students currently enrolled on 4th semester upwards, from all undergraduate (S1) major(s) that have a grasp knowledge and interest on Food, Water, and Energy Nexus issueCommitted to participate both legs of the Summit at UNAIR and NUS
  • Highly fluent in English, and possess English proficiency certificate (TOEFL/ELPT Min. 500/ IELTS min. Band 5.5)
  • Strong academic performance, with min. CGPA of 3.00 proven by Official faculty stamped academic transcript in English (directly printed ‘histori nilai’ out of cybercampus page is not accepted)
  • Provide 1 letter of recommendation from the person of professional relation capacity with applicant (e.g: lecturer, dean / vice dean, academic supervisor, internship supervisor)
  • Write an essay of min. 1000 words in English which elaborate, answer, and cover the following:
    • What do you know about the current state of Food, Water, and Energy Nexus in Surabaya?
    • According to your knowledge among all the problems of the current state of Food, Water, and Energy Nexus in Surabaya, which problem is urgently needed to be solved and discussed with the most viable solution through this summit?
    • What viable solution are you proposing to do to overcome the problem?
  • Write a motivation letter of max. 500 words in English which cover the following:
    • Why are you interested in participating in the summit?
    • What do you feel you can gain out of the summit?
    • Elaborate to us why you should be chosen as one of the participants of this summit

  • 10 students from Universitas Airlangga will be selected as the participants for the summit, 10 students from NUS will join in this first leg of 1st ASIAN Undergraduate Summit at UNAIR.
  • In determining 10 UNAIR students to be the participants of this summit, the selection committee (Consists of Lecturer, and IOP Staff) will review all the applications and will shortlist the candidates. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further selection.

Airlangga Summer Program

Airlangga Summer Program (ASP), established in 2015, is a short program for undergraduate students who are interested in knowing further about issues regarding culture, health, science, social, and law in Indonesia and Universitas Airlangga. It offers some appealing main programs including Traditional Medicine known as Jamu, Community Empowerment, Community Health, Safari Program (Baluran National Park), Indonesian Creative Industry and Indonesian Legal System concerning how the legal system in Indonesia can accommodate diversity in terms of race, ethnic, religion, and custom. In addition, it offers a cultural trip to Mount Bromo and Language and Culture class that can give the students unforgettable experience.

1. Creative Industry in Indonesia

Airlangga Summer Program 2016/2017 is open for 40 targeted international students. It offers a closed observation on creative industry in Indonesia, emphasizing on creative industry of Batik home industry and explores other creative industry, such as hand crafting of recycled good and knitted ware industry. Furthermore, it focuses on exploring their perceived economic, cultural and traditional values, how they keep up with consumer’s needs and market desire in Indonesia; and how it introduces a new culture as a part of it with online shopping and how it produces new challenges such as intelectual property rights .

Program fee: 1,000 USD

Acommodation fee: 400 USD


2. Indonesian Traditional Medicine (JAMU)

Indonesian Traditional Medicine emphasizes on the learning variety of herbal medicines including local and scientific names, and the uses for health. It focuses on understanding the process of Jamu medicines production, including harvesting and post-harvesting of plant-based materials, extracting and mixing methods, packaging and distributing of the medicines. It delivers you to look closely on the process of making Indonesian traditional medicine in a scientific way; observing and learning about the role of Jamu in the health care system of Indonesia. Students can understand how to make traditional medicine from natural resources product and look closely on traditional producer of Jamu.

3. Safari Program

Exotic Animals and Wildlife Medicines discusses the wildlife in general with some specific reviews related to conservation, behavior, management, breeding and the health care of wild animals in the zoos and wildlife parks. The course provides some case studies of wildlife management of tropical animals in some zoos and wildlife park in East Java. This program also discusses Indonesian Oceanography. Indonesian Oceanography explains the relationship between oceanography and fisheries followed by the description on Indonesian water topography and division.

4. Pluralism In Harmony: Unity In Diversity

Pluralism In Harmony: Unity In Diversity program emphasizes on the learning of Indonesian Law, including Adat (Customary) and Islamic Law, and its implementation. The learning focuses on understanding the society, including how the Law works in harmony with the Islamic Law, Adat Law and National Law.

5. Community Health Nursing in Coastal Area of East Java

Community Health Nursing in Coastal Area of East Java program emphasizes on thelearning variety of health and cultural-related practices, including physical and psychological health. It focuses on understanding Indonesian professional practitioners recommended and local health practices, particularly on how health is viewed, analyzed, and addressed. It delivers you to look closely on different perspectives of health (between local indigenous and modern-western point of view in health practice), to learn how the different could take place, and understand by comparing health outcomes. Thus, students can learn that means of effective method of curing and healing, and good health vary.

6. Ceria (Community Empowerment Program at Airlangga)

Community Empowerment Program at Airlangga or CERIA is a community service program for undergraduate students designed to empower the society. Its uniqueness lies on the feature to empower rather than physically build their surroundings. We believe that empowering a community by inserting new knowledge into disadvantaged society will bring more benefits and sustainability, and encourage both students and society to be more creative.
