Guest Lecture: ASEAN-China Relations

Thursday, (11/4) the Ambassador of China to ASEAN together with Universitas Airlangga held a guest lecture at Adi Sukadana Room, Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP), Campus B, Universitas Airlangga. The attendances are from the academics, researchers and students of Universitas Airlangga. The lecture was mainly discuss about ASEAN-China Relations.

 

Before the guest lecture, there was a courtesy visit with the Vice Rectors and Management Board of Universitas Airlangga in Campus C, Universitas Airlangga. After the courtesy visit, H. E. Mr. Huang Xilian went to FISIP to meet with the Dean and the lecturers as well as the researchers to discuss the potential collaboration in research areas. H. E Ambassador was welcomed by Remo traditional dance performance. This event continued by the guest lecture.

The lecture was successfully conducted with over than a hundred participants, and it discussed about the history of ASEAN-China relationships and The Vision of ASEAN-China 2030. H.E Ambassador mentioned that there are 5 main focuses that ASEAN-China will emphasize in the year of 2030, namely Partnerships for Common Development, Peace, Opening and Win-Win Cooperation, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, also Inclusivity and Mutual Learning.  During the lecture, H. E Ambassador also surprised the participants by speaking in Bahasa.

The last session was a discussion session, led by Ms. Citra Henida, a Lecturer from International Relations Department, as a moderator, with an immense amount of enthusiasm shown by the attendees, there were a lot of questions being asked during this session that are mostly about how the countries will overcome the challenges up ahead. H. E Ambassador stated that “The countries need to establish more sustain partnerships, regardless of differences that they had in order to create a win-win cooperations”.

Hopefully this courtesy visit will be beneficial not only for Universitas Airlangga but for both countries.
